[HM:247939] “King Cobra attacks only when its life is at risk,”

Even a new born king cobra has enough venom to kill a human being. A fully grown king cobra can kill 6 humans or one adult elephant in a single bite. But experts believe that it's very rare that these snakes attack people.
Is herpetologist Gowri Shankar acting as a match referee here?
Gowri Shankar has rescued and rehabilitated more than 200 king cobras in the Western Ghats. Gowri Shankar has worked as a conservation officer at the Agumbe Rainforest Research Centre.

On an average 20 to 25 king cobras are being rescued every month in Karnataka alone. Human- king cobra conflict is on the rise says experts.
There are nearly 7 king cobra handlers in Karnataka, who help local people in capturing and rehabilitating them back into the forests.

King cobra can grow up to 18 ft making it the world's longest venomous snake.
